Escaping

Spirits of happiness scare the children,
Ascending, descending,
Routinely monotonous.
Cuffed by prudence,
A prisoner in a barless dungeon,
Content to live off bread and water.
Shedding skin, sacrificing style,
Infectious defect,
Itching scalp, I'm afraid of ghosts.

But there's no such thing
As long as I close my eyes.
